The Division of Pediatric Rheumatology in the Department of Pediatrics at Washington University School of Medicine provides comprehensive care for pediatric patients with rheumatologic disorders. The division is a regional center and draws patients from throughout Missouri as well as Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. The division is comprised of five full-time faculty members, four fellows, a nurse practitioner, and a nurse specialist. The division has operated a robust fellowship program for over 20 years and trained 20 fellows including 11 MD-PhDs. These fellows have gone on to distinguished careers in pediatric rheumatology and include three current division directors in pediatric rheumatology programs.

Mission Statement

Provide high-quality, comprehensive care for infants, children, and adolescents with rheumatic disorders.

Provide education and teaching to residents and medical students to facilitate their understanding of the diagnosis and treatment of autoimmune and auto-inflammatory disorders.

Provide an environment of academic freedom in which the highest quality research into the etiology and pathogenesis of pediatric rheumatic disorders can be conducted, with the aim of training new investigators who will provide novel approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of these diseases.
