r of the year will be about effectively speaking up around bias and discrim
ination and the journey of earning the title of Ally.

We will
use Peggy McIntosh’s White Privilege: Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack art
icle as a basis to start our discussion about Privilege. We highly encoura
ge folks to read it prior to coming to the session so that you can be ready
to discuss. The article focuses on White Privilege and we know this can b
e a triggering term for some people. As we move along with Perspectives\,
the intent is to challenge each of us to step out of our comfort zone and b
e open to leaning “in” to discussion that helps us foster more discussion a
nd as a result\, a greater sense of belonging for all. We will not only
be discussing one area of privilege but will be discussing the many forms
and identities that carry it and ways that it shapes our ability to be alli
es. The article is simply a starting point. ** We encourage you to br
ing your reactions\, thoughts\, questions\, and concerns to the discussion
so that we can truly engage and learn from one another.

<str
