Before you start please keep in mind that participation with PEMRAP requires a significant time commitment of four to eight hours in the St. Louis Children's Hospital emergency room and a two-hour class session each week.
PEMRAP Fall 2022 Registration is now closed
In an effort to select students best suited for PEMRAP we have implemented a more formal, yet simplified admissions process.
Course requirements and prerequisites are listed under Student Responsibilities.

Complete and submit the application form
Self-enroll in the PEMRAP admissions Canvas page
Submit a 300 word essay to Canvas in Assignments
Application decisions will be based primarily on the merits of a 300 word essay that answers each of the following questions:
Why would you like to participate in PEMRAP?
What are your expectations of the program?
What qualities and experiences do you bring to the research associate position?
The application form and Canvas self-enrollment should be done right away.
In addition to basic biographical information, students will be asked to provide the name and email address of their academic advisor on the application form.
While we are not accepting letters of recommendation, applicants will have the option to provide the contact information for one reference we may contact with questions. It should be someone in a position of authority: 1) an employer, a lab or project lead, or other. 2) from within the university or in the community. 3) within the past two years.
All applicants will be notified of the status of their application on or before April 19th. Those who are awarded a seat in the class will be given immediate access to the PEMRAP Non-Appointee packet, which is to be completed and uploaded to Canvas within 30 days, or before, if leaving the country or working full time over the summer break.
The PEMRAP Non-Appointee packet consists of a number of documents, forms, and training requirements required by the university to allow participation in this course. Students who do not submit the full packet by the deadline may be dropped from the course and their seat given to a student on the waitlist.
