The seminar will present a foundation for modeling leadership behavior, and participants will learn critical skills and strategies to assist them as they prepare for their next advancement and promotion opportunity. Due to the content focus, applicants must be actively looking to advance to the next stage of their career.
The Early Career Seminar for Women Faculty is designed for women physicians and scientists with a minimum of two years of experience (from the date of the seminar) as an Assistant Professor. This seminar is designed for women faculty who have held an academic appointment at a school of medicine for 8 years or less.

The Minority Faculty Leadership Development Seminar brings together junior faculty from across the United States and provides participants with real-world guidance and tools for pursuing career advancement in academic medicine. The seminar will help participants develop key professional competencies that build skills in grant writing and communications, while expanding their network of colleagues and role models.
Junior faculty (senior clinical and research fellows, instructors, and assistant professors) and post docs (MD, DO/PhD and PhD) who identify as members of underrepresented racial and ethnic groups and who aspire to leadership positions in academic medicine.

The seminar covers organizational leadership topics and career advancing strategies that are essential for effective leaders throughout various mission-critical activities.
The Mid-Career Seminar is designed for women physicians and scientists with a minimum of two years of experience (from the date of the seminar) as an Associate Professor. Beginning with their first medical school faculty appointment, applicants typically have a minimum of eight years’ experience. Mid-career applicants should have demonstrated leadership ability that may include formal administrative, organizational (local or national), or other types of informal leadership roles. They must actively be seeking leadership opportunities to advance to the next stage of their career, including full professorship or other advanced leadership positions, as the curriculum focuses on the skills necessary for career advancement within academic medicine and science.

The AAMC Mid-Career Minority Faculty Seminar is a leadership development program designed specifically for mid-career faculty who aspire to leadership positions in academic medicine. This unique blended-learning program takes a culturally responsive approach to address the specific needs of the participants including small group mentoring sessions and a CV review for career development planning.
Associate Professors who identify as members of underrepresented racial and ethnic groups and who aspire to leadership positions in academic medicine are encouraged to apply.

- Personal statement (maximum 300 words) that describes your career goals, how attendance at this seminar will contribute to your career development, and how the curriculum is applicable to your leadership roles at this particular time. You must also include a statement of commitment to attend the full in-person seminar, if selected.
- Brief (<300 word) letter of nomination from the Department which (1) explains why this nominee is an excellent fit for the selected program and (2) attests to the commitment to cover travel, lodging, and incidental expenses if the faculty member is selected.
Up to four nominees will be selected to receive tuition support for this program. The nominees’ departments will be expected to fund travel, lodging, and incidentals related to program participation.
