Hospital Medicine

Our pediatric hospital medicine division is affiliated with the Washington University Medical Center and serves St. Louis Children’s Hospital (SLCH), Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Missouri Baptist Medical Center, Progress West HealthCare Center, Memorial Hospital Shiloh and Memorial Hospital Belleville. The group is composed of board-eligible and board-certified pediatricians who are exclusively hospital-based.

Infectious Diseases

The Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases provides a full-time consultation service for patients admitted to St. Louis Children’s Hospital. Patients referred for evaluation or management of a variety of other infectious diseases are seen in our general infectious disease clinics. Arrangements can also be made for urgent outpatient consultations.

Nephrology, Hypertension & Apheresis

Our division provides comprehensive treatment for children who suffer from kidney or genitourologic disorders, both acute and chronic. This includes evaluation, specialized testing, education and ongoing care, such as the provision of dialysis and kidney transplantation as treatment for chronic kidney disease.

Newborn Medicine

The clinical services of the division are anchored in the 125-bed level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St. Louis Children’s Hospital (SLCH) that provides care to newborn infants born at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, as well as those transported by the St. Louis Children’s Hospital Transport Team from all over the U.S. and abroad.

Rheumatology & Immunology

Children with rheumatic disease or issues with immunodsyregulation are cared for by an experienced team of physicians, nurse practitioners, and clinical nurse coordinators. The care and evaluation of our patients is supported by a state-of-the-art diagnostic laboratory which includes all available serologic and cellular testing for rheumatic diseases and immunodeficiencies.

Additionally, the pediatric clinical immunology program at St. Louis Children’s Hospital provides the highest quality multi-disciplinary care for children with primary immunodeficiencies. This clinic is staffed by Washington University physicians and a dedicated nurse practitioner. Our clinic specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of primary immunodeficiencies that lead to increased infections and immune dysregulation. We offer a range of treatments including replacement immunoglobulin infusion therapy and evaluation for hematopoietic stem cell therapy.
