Endocrinology and Diabetes | Fellowship
Greetings from the Directors,
The selection of a fellowship training program will be one of the most important decisions you make regarding your medical career. I am delighted you are considering the nationally recognized Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship Program at Washington University and St. Louis Children’s Hospital. The Department of Pediatrics has a long-standing commitment to furthering the medical education of those entering the field of pediatric endocrinology. Our fellowship program trains pediatricians with an interest in an academic medical career in pediatric endocrinology. This includes long-term involvement in research and teaching.
It is a privilege to serve as the directors of the program and we’d like to share the division’s mission and its vision for the future. The mission of the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes is to provide excellence in patient care, teaching and research in all aspects of pediatric endocrinology, metabolism and diabetology. Excellence in Patient Care, Research and Education is what we strive for every day. Our fellows, faculty and staff are central to fulfilling this mission. We are proud of our accomplishments and are eager to share with you the unique opportunity for physicians to obtain comprehensive pediatric endocrinology training in a world-class setting.
We offer a three year fellowship training program that satisfies the eligibility requirements of the American Board of Pediatrics for Pediatric Endocrinology Certification. At present, the division’s talented and ambitious interdisciplinary faculty provide the highest quality fellowship education possible. Fellows are exposed to a busy and diverse patient population to develop their clinical skills and receive increasing responsibility in patient care as they progress through the program. The second and third year fellow’s time is focused on research training of either clinical (patient oriented) and/or basic science research.
Thank you for your interest in our program. We are committed to the growth and development of future leaders in pediatric endocrinology. For over 90 years, the endocrinologists at Washington University and St. Louis Children’s hospital have played a major role in the care of children with diabetes and all types of hormone-related disorders. We invite you to be a part of it!
