The Fellow Forum is the core curriculum for all subspecialty trainees in the Department of Pediatrics. Our department is committed to supporting the career and professional development of fellows through a structured, three-year program.
The curriculum is organized by fellowship year and anticipated academic career track. It covers topics in scholarship, teaching and core clinical competencies. Each academic year begins with a half-day career-focused retreat for all pediatric fellows. Afterward, fellows attend monthly two-hour sessions, typically in a workshop format to encourage small-group learning.
Examples of topics include:
| Core competencies | Teaching | Scholarship |
|---|---|---|
| Disclosure of adverse events | Bioethics | Difficult conversations |
| Bedside teaching tips | Teaching in different settings | Feedback |
| Grant writing | Giving effective talks | Writing abstracts |
Beyond education and career development, the Fellow Forum fosters collaboration and networking among fellows across all pediatric subspecialties.s.
