Catrina Murphy has been with Washington University in St. Louis and the Department of Pediatrics for five years starting as a PSR. Prior to coming to Wash U, Murphy was in the dental field for eight years where she was an office manager and at times the dental assistant. She has always enjoyed the medical field, but thought she wanted to be more on the administrative side than clinical. However, in 2023 Murphy completed the Medical Assistant Apprenticeship offered through WashU. Later at WashU, she became clinic coordinator for the Graham Rd. and Shiloh clinics. She has really enjoyed her time here and is very glad she took a step out of her comfort zone. Murphy is also continuing her education and looking forward to her continued professional growth.
When not at work, Murphy enjoys lots of family time. She have three children, ages 21, 18 and 15. She also loves road trips and has been known to travel four or more hours just to try a new restaurant or sight see someplace new for the day. When she goes on road trips, Murphy also always look for neat places to stop on the way there or back home. Once on the way home from Destin, Florida, Murphy went over to New Orleans, where they walked around for a bit, had dinner, then started heading north towards home. She also enjoys camping, floating, hiking, sitting at a beach and being in the mountains. The toughest hike Murphy has ever done was the Alum Cave Trail to Mt. Leconte in the Smoky Mountains, and one of her favorite places from this past year has been the Ponce De Leon Springs in Florida.
