Clarifying compliance requirements, the 2024 NIH Public Access Policy mandates that Author Accepted Manuscripts be submitted to PubMed Central upon acceptance and made publicly available without embargo. Northwest Tower (NWT)

The Northwest Tower, an eight-level facility opened in September 2006, adds 200,000 square feet of office space atop the St. Louis Children’s Hospital garage. It provides faculty and staff offices, with the Patient-Oriented Research Unit occupying the 10th floor.

This 22,100-square-foot research floor includes four conference rooms, 40 faculty offices, 118 staff and fellow cubicles and dedicated areas for drug storage and copy/work functions, creating a collaborative environment for clinical research.

Helping School of Medicine members resolve conflicts

Providing a confidential and impartial space, the Office of the Ombuds supports faculty and medical students in informally addressing work-related concerns. Guided by principles of confidentiality, independence, neutrality and informality, the office advocates for fair treatment and process while fostering constructive dialogue.

Orvedahl Lab

Anthony Orvedahl, MD, PhD
Division of Infectious Diseases

Unlocking the mechanisms of immune regulation to combat severe inflammation and cytokine storm syndromes our lab investigates how immune responses are controlled to prevent fatal reactions. We use in vitro and in vivo approaches to identify key genes and pathways, focusing on autophagy and its role in protecting macrophages and preventing cytokine storm. Our goal is to develop host-directed therapies for infectious and inflammatory disorders.
