Andrew Walz joined the Department of Pediatrics as a billing/scheduling associate in June 2023.
Walz grew up in South County St. Louis and attended the University of Missouri — St. Louis, where he received a Bachelor’s in English Literature and Composition and a Master’s in Secondary Education.
After 11 memorable and demanding years in the classroom as a high school teacher, curriculum writer, instructional coach and team lead, Walz decided that he was ready to pursue new professional challenges and opportunities. Since joining the Allergy and Pulmonary clinic’s support team, Walz has been recognized as a Children’s Direct “Triple Crown Winner” for providing patients with safe care, effective care and exceptional service. He is grateful to be of service to the patients, families and providers in the pediatrics department and thanks everyone for their patience and support as he learns the ropes and grows into his new role.
In his free time, Walz enjoys spending time with his family and friends, playing guitar, reading books, watching movies, cooking and working on his family’s 115-year-old house in the Dogtown neighborhood, where he and his wife of 15 years, Ellen, a WashU alumni and software engineering manager, are raising their daughters, Tess and June. This summer, Tess sat in the 17th row for Taylor Swift in Kansas City and, despite being too short to see the stage for much of the concert, still had a great time. June is about to turn one and recently tried her first donut.
